General Information 


 
The JB Quarter Horses Futurity will be held November 8-10, 2018 in conjunction with the Elite Extravaganza. The 5-year-old and under Futurity will have $20,000 added with a $5,000-added Chasin Firewater Amateur Incentive. 
 
The Futurity is open to horses foaled in 2013 or younger that have not competed in a barrel race prior to December 1, 2017. 
 
All entries will run in the qualifying round on Thursday night, November 8. The fastest 50% of all paid in full entries will return to the clean-slate Championship Round and compete for 60% of the purse on Saturday night, November 10. The remaining entries, including hit barrels and no times, will compete for 40% of the purse in a clean slate Consolation Round on Friday, November 9. 
 
Entry fees for the Futurity are $300 with an 80% payback. The processing fee is $50. Stalls ARE NOT included with your entry. Please remember to indicate the total number of stalls you will need. If wanting to stall with someone, all stalls must be bought on one form to be together as a group. Note: NO HORSES OR TRAILERS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE GROUNDS UNTIL MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5. 
 
Amateur Incentive The Amateur Incentive has a $100 entry fee with a 100% payback. Amateur placings are determined on a two-run aggregate. Amateur contestants must have their 2018 Amateur Cards with and AQHA, APHA, or ApHC. AQHA rules will be followed. 
 
Open Carryovers Futurity competitors can carryover their futurity run/time into the Elite Extravaganza Open Races. The qualifying round carries over to Open Race 1 and the Consolation/Championship run/time carries over to Open Race 2. Entries for the open are $85 each. Rider age incentives are $20 each. You may also enter the warm-up race on Friday morning. Please choose your open carryovers on the attached futurity entry form. Do not use the Elite Online entry form to do carry overs. 
 
Breeder’s Incentives In addition to the $10,000 Creating Legends Incentives that will be awarded to the three fastest horses in the qualifying round by Chasin Firewater, Dallas Fuel, Hot Corona, Money Depot or Two Timen Fuel. Future Fortunes, Triple Crown and TQHA will also offer bonus money.  Triple Crown’s Crown Round Slot Race will also be held with qualifying round. Triple Crown and Future Fortunes will also offer $10,000 each in bonus money. TQHA will offer bonus money in the qualifying round of the futurity. Horses must be by stallions who donated to the TQHA Barrel Stallion Service Auction and both the owner and rider must be TQHA members. For more information, please visit www.tqha.com. 

AQHA Double Judge classes.  Must be entered in the JBQH Futurity.  Youth, Junior, and Amateur classes available. Enter onsite at the Show office with secretary.  Proof of papers and membership are needed.
 

 

FAQ & Rules 

 


 1. What is the futurity payment schedule? Entry Fee:  $350 (Includes a $50 processing fee. Does not include stalls.) All Futurity entries must be paid for by check. 
 
September 5, 2018 - $175 (postmarked by) October 3, 2018 - $175 (postmarked by) 
 
A late fee of $50 will be applied to any payments not postmarked by the dates listed above. Even if entry is paid in full after a postmark deadline, the late fee(s) still apply. 
 
A photocopy of the front and back of your horse’s registration papers is required when the entry form is sent to Elite Barrel Racing. Must have originals registration papers present at the event or veterinary affidavits for grade horse. 
 
2. What are the late fees? If the September 5 nomination date is not met, you may still enter a horse with a $50 late fee. If the October 3 date is not met, you may still enter a horse with a $50 late fee. Each deadline not met will incur a $50 late fee, up to $100. You may enter a horse until October 31.   
 
3. Who can enter the Amateur incentive? Amateur riders must have a 2018 Amateur card from either the AQHA, APHA or ApHC and must submit a copy of their cards with the futurity entry. A copy must be on file with the show secretary before the first run is made to collect winnings. 
 
AQHA rules will be followed. If you hold an APHA or ApHC amateur card, but don’t meet AQHA’s criteria (available in their rule book online at aqha.com), you may not enter the Amateur incentive. WPRA members are not eligible for the Amateur incentive regardless of holding an amateur card with APHA or ApHC.  
 
The Amateur is paid out on a two-run aggregate. Amateur cards must be on file to collect winnings. 
 
4. When do Amateur incentive entries have to be paid? The Amateur incentive must be paid by October 31 without a late fee. You may enter the incentive up until the futurity horse check-in date on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, with a late fee of $20.00. 
 
5. Do I have to be a member of or contestant of the Elite Extravaganza to compete in the JB Quarter Horses Futurity? No. Elite Barrel Racing doesn’t require memberships. 
 
6. Can I enter the Warm-Up Race of the Elite Extravaganza? Yes, but you must be entered in one of the Open Races. Carryovers from the Futurity to the Open count as an entry. If you wish to carry over to the Elite Extravaganza Open races on an existing entry, please use Elite Barrel Racing’s Add Form. Do Not Use The Online Entry For An Existing Futurity Entry. ***** All change and add forms can be found on www.elitebarrelracing.com.***** 

7. Can I carry over my time from the JB Quarter Horses Futurity to the Elite Extravaganza? Yes, carryovers from the Futurity to the two Open Races will be allowed. The Futurity Qualifying Round carries over to Open Race 1 and the Consolation or Championship Round time carries over to Open Race 2. Carryover entries must be completed before the first horse runs in the qualifying round on Thursday, November 8. If wanting to carryover after October 31, use the Elite Barrel Racing Add Form that can be found on the forms page on www.elitebarrelracing.com. 
 
8. What if I miss my payment for the futurity? If monthly payments are not received in the office by the due date and/or do not contain the late fee, if applicable, your entry will be pulled without further notice. No refunds will be awarded for delinquent entries. You are not considered a valid entry if your fees are not completely current.  
 
9. What horses are allowed to compete in the Futurity? The futurity is open to horses foaled in 2013 or after. Horses may not have competed in any barrel race prior to December 1, 2017. This includes playdays, registered shows, etc. 
 
10. What if the ownership of a horse changes after it’s entered? Written authorization must be received from the original owner stating he/she has sold the horse before any entries can be transferred to the new owner. 
 
11. Can I draw a horse out of the Futurity? You may draw a horse out of the Futurity at any time; however, you will not be refunded any entry fees. 
 
12. Can I substitute a horse in the Futurity? Yes, you may substitute a horse for a $10 fee. Horses must belong to the same owner. All substitutions must be complete by November 6. A change form is available on www.elitebarrelracing.com. 
 
13. Can I substitute a rider? Yes, you may substitute a rider for a $25 fee. All substitutions must be complete by November 6. A change form is available on www.elitebarrelracing.com. 
 
14. How will the Futurity be run? All entries will run in the qualifying round on Thursday night, November 8. The fastest 50% of all paid in full entries will return to the clean-slate Championship Round and compete for 60% of the purse on Saturday night, November 10. The remaining entries, including hit barrels and no times, will compete for 40% of the purse in a clean slate Consolation Round on Friday, November 9. Ex: 120 paid in full entries, only 110 check-ins; 50% will be 60 to Championship Round. 
 
 15. When can we check in our Futurity horses? Check-in will be between 5-7 p.m., on Wednesday, November 7 in the Extraco Pavilion Arena. You will sign up for your guaranteed exhibitions at this time and they will be given on a first come, first serve basis. Must have originals registration papers present at the event or veterinary affidavits for grade horse. All entries will be mouthed for age verification.  this is a mandatory check in time. No exceptions will be made.
 
16. Will there be exhibitions? Futurity horses will be guaranteed two exhibitions on Thursday, November 8, starting at 8 a.m. Signup for these exhibitions will take place during check-in, Wednesday, November 7 from 5-7 p.m. on a first come first save basis.   Additional open exhibition times will be offered to the general public on Tuesday, November 6 and Wednesday, November 7. These additional exhibitions will be sold at the show office each morning for that day’s exhibitions. 
 
17. Who will get the payout? If an entry should receive money for placing, all payouts will be made to the rider.
